now on:
Fairbrooks sells an affordable off-grid modular water purification system to SME
customers (schools, hospitals, shop, restaurants, kiosks). Their pilot has done
$3K in revenue.
Kytabu is producing a $35 reading tablet
for low-income schools across Kenya, enabling payments of the tablet through a
“micro-lease” mobile payment and affordable content through a subscription
service. They have tested the prototype with customers and are rolling out a
pilot next month.
FoMobi develops mobile and web
applications for SMEs in Kenya. Pilot applications include M-permit, which
enables small business owners to apply for permits and verify their legitimacy,
M-bursar, which enables schools to receive fee payment via mobile.
Partech’s mobile-based trading system,
“Mare-Mare Trader,” is a location-based SMS service meant to facilitate the
barter and informal market trade in Kenya.
Kweli Mobile provides an online marketplace
where fisherman can gather information and sell their production to wholesale buyers at
market-competitive prices.
