New KDE release: Stakes and Opportunities around functionalities, bugs fixed and improvements
It is official, since November 21, 2012; we have an
opportunity to run the new KDE.
This Beta release, concerns its renewed Workspaces,
Applications, Development Platform; fixing bugs and further polishing new and
old functionality.
QtQuick allows deeper integration
with the system and more apps and Plasma components. Henceforth Plasma
Containments can be written in QtQuick. Various Plasma widgets have been
rewritten in QtQuick, notably the system tray, pager, notifications, lock &
logout, weather and weather station, comic strip and calculator plasmoids; New Screen Locker: brings more
flexibility and security to Plasma Desktop ; Improved Zooming in Okular: allows Okular to zoom
in much further while reducing memory consumption. Okular Active, the
touch-friendly version of the document reader is henceforth a KDE Application; Faster indexing: allows faster
indexing of files. The new Tags kioslave aims to allow users to browse their
files by tags in any KDE-powered application. Etc. Learn more.
