New variant of Mac Trojan discovered: Threats and Stakes for the users
The warning from SophosLabs, since November 13, 2012, aims to help Macs users
to be aware about malware threat on Macs.
According to SophosLabs, in the past, earlier variants of the OSX/Imuler
malware has been spread via topless photos of a
Russian supermodel or embedded deep inside boobytrapped PDF files.
Since a certain time, it may appear that a version of the Imuler Trojan has
been used in targeted attack against sympathizers of the Dalai Lama and the
Tibetan government.
This time the malware appears to have been packaged with images of Tibetan organizations.
The Mac users infected by malware have given remote control of their
computer and their data to an invisible and unknown party. This means that,
unknown party could steal files from your Mac, spy on your emails, and plant
further malware onto your systems.
