New KDE updates for its Workspaces, Applications Dev Platform: Stakes and Opportunities around bug fixes and translations.
For those who are unfamiliar KDE is an international technology team that creates free and open source software for desktop and portable computing.
Since December 5, 2012, KDE has
released updates for its Workspaces, Applications, and Development Platform. Henceforth,
these updates aim to be the last in a series of monthly stabilization updates
to the 4.9 series. 4.9.4 Updates bring many bugfixes and translation updates on
top of the latest edition in the 4.9 series. Everyone running 4.9.3 or earlier
versions is called to update its edition.
The list of 71 recorded bugfixes includes improvements in the Dolphin file manager and Kontact email and groupware client. The changes are listed on KDE's issue tracker.
To download source code or
packages to install go to the 4.9.4 Info Page. Regarding the KDE Workspaces and Applications
4.9, refer to the 4.9 release notes and its earlier versions.
Finally KDE's software can be obtained in source and
various binary formats from http://download.kde.org or with any of the major GNU/Linux and UNIX systems .
Among KDE's products are a
modern desktop system for Linux and UNIX platforms, comprehensive office
productivity and groupware suites and hundreds of software titles in many
categories including Internet and web applications, multimedia, entertainment,
educational, graphics and software development.
KDE software is translated into
more than 60 languages and is built with ease of use and modern accessibility
principles in mind. KDE's full-featured applications run natively on Linux,
BSD, Solaris, Windows and Mac OS X.
