The final release of Slax version 7.0 for Linux: Stakes and Opportunities around new features and improvements
After more or less three years of absence, since December 10, 2012, Slax is back. It aims to be better than ever before. For those who unfamiliar, Slax is a modern, portable, small and ‘’fast’’ Linux operating system with a modular approach. Despite its small size, Slax provides a wide collection of pre-installed software for daily use.
In fact Slax 7.0 aims to be the major update of Slax Linux live operating system. It includes newest Linux Kernel, KDE4 desktop, GCC compiler and lots of other stuff and that all in just a ~210MB download. The modular approach can give you the ability to include any other software in Slax more or less easily.
For example: if you're missing your favourite text editor, networking tool or game, simply download a module with the software and copy it to Slax, no need to install, no need to configure.
Finally the recent changes include: translation to more than 50 languages ; added 'slax' use like 'slax activate' ; avoid unwanted error warnings about missing devices; bootinst script fixes and improvements ; added some firmware including radeon and some wifi drivers ; support from=/path/slax.iso boot parameter to load slax data from the given iso ; Firefox style improvements, Slax software Center ; added module tools such as sb2dir, deb2sb, txz2sb; added development module. Total Slax size is now around 210MB (for 32bit)
