Global optical network: Huawei and KPN International Introduce the New Generation 100G WDM Technology.
Huawei ((ICT) solutions provider), increasingly marks greatly its presence and
multiplies its activities in Europe, in terms of public
and private investments. The goal is to demonstrate the solidity of its technologies and reassure its partners. In this dynamic, since June 20, 2013, officially, Huawei and KPN International(telecommunications and ICT provider), have introduced the second generation soft-decision forward error correction (SD FEC) technology on KPN International's pan-European 100G WDM backbone.
and private investments.
According to Huawei, ‘’the network was planned to span 1,400 kilometers
between Amsterdam and Paris (via Germany), but later extended by 300 kilometers
at tail ends due to a surplus of transmission capacity’’.
For those who unfamiliar, SD FEC aims to be most advanced error correction
technology in the optical transport field and a cornerstone of the widespread
commercial use of 100G.
We also learn that, the use of Optical Digital Signal Processing (oDSP)
modules, essentially a 400G technology breakthrough, achieves lower-penalty WDM
transmission with lower power consumption per bit.’’ Specifically, the second
generation SD FEC system empowers a transmission distance of 4000 km, which is
1000 km longer compared to the first generation SD FEC system, resulting in a
30% higher transmission performance.’’
"Customers first is our commitment. Through long-term cooperation with
top international operators such as KPN, we are able to design optical
transport products suitable to customer needs and move forward in the right
direction," said Jack Wang, President of the Huawei Transport Network
Product Line.
