Toshiba has launched photocouplers, “TLP2361” and “TLP2161”.

Once more Toshiba holds its sequence of innovation. Today, the Japanese company has announced photocouplers, “TLP2361” and “TLP2161”that combine 15Mbps high-speed communication with low power consumption.
Connectikpeople has observed that, pending the mass production scheduled in August, 2013, the products incorporate Toshiba’s
original infrared LED.
For those who unfamiliar, Connectikpeople may recall that, the LED’s high output and reliability secure low input current operations and reduce threshold input current by approximately 54% compared with equivalent products.
In addition, this LED’s stable output under high ambient temperature guarantees operation up to 125 degrees Celsius, the industry’s highest class of operation.
According to Toshiba, “TLP2361”, with a small SO6 package, achieves clearances and creepage distance of 5mm (min.) and complies with the reinforced insulation class of overseas safety standard (EN60747-5-5). Regarding “TLP2161”, it incorporates two circuits in SO8 package, reduces mounting area by approximately 40%, compared with two units of “TLP2361”, and contributes to downsizing of applications and reduction of PCB cost.
As applications, Connectikpeople has nabbed:
FA networks, I/O interface boards, high-speed digital interface used in PLC and control devices

Key Features include :
1.

Uses the BiCMOS process realizing reduction of supply current

TLP2361: 1.0mA (Max.) (Approximately 66% reduction vs. equivalent product)

TLP2161: 2.0mA (Max.) (Approximately 60% reduction vs. equivalent product)
2.

Reduces threshold input current

1.6mA (Max.) (Approximately 54% reduction vs. equivalent product)
3.

Enables operation with low voltage

Guaranteed operating voltage: 2.7 – 5.5V
4.

Realizes operation in high ambient temperature

Guaranteed Topr (Max) = 125°C
