Henceforth Way2ride as a Mobile App for New York City Taxis is available.

Launched yesterday and powered by VireFone this mobile app currently available for iOS and Android smartphones, aims to make the taxi experience faster and easier for New Yorkers and business
travelers by enabling riders to pre-load payment information and preferred tip amounts.

This means, with this app New Yorkers, once inside the cab, can pay at any time with a tap of their phone. For riders, digital receipts are stored in the app and accessible at Way2ride.com .

VeriFone has promised that, after the New York launch they will be expanding Way2ride acceptance throughout its network of more than 70,000 payment-enabled taxis worldwide.

Connectikpeople has also discovered that,  Way2ride is billed and a VeriFone’s first commercial deployment of the Zoosh technology, which utilizes the speakers and microphones of smartphones with the goal to securely exchange encrypted data between devices. 

For developers, Way2ride is built on VeriFone’s open API cloud platform, which enables developers to create apps with payment, messaging and other value-added services leveraging VeriFone’s secure mobile commerce network.
