IBM Smarter Cities technology adopts by Vietnamese Seaport City of Da Nang: stakes and opportunities.



Nowadays, the vast majority of cities across the world are facing big challenges in terms of transportation, water distribution and the access of to the sustainable energy.
Da Nang, the Vietnamese Seaport City is concerned by these kinds of issues. To help mitigate the risk and improve the life conditions of its citizens, the authorities of Da Nang have launched smarter
water and transportation initiatives.
This agreement with IBM disclosed yesterday, using IBM’s Intelligent Operations Center, aims to address two of the most significant issues impacting life in the city: transportation and water.
According the terms of agreement, the solution provides a summary of events and incidents through maps, dashboards and alerts, allowing city personnel to track trends, forecast demand and better manage the city’s infrastructure and assets.  
For example, using IBM’s Big Data technologies and predictive analytics, Da Nang's traffic control center will have the tools to forecast and prevent potential congestion and better coordinate city responses to issues like accidents and adverse weather. Data from across multiple systems can be integrated, stored and analyzed for statistics, control and anomalies detection. 
And finally, using the IBM Intelligent Water Solution, DAWACO workers can instantly visualize operations and receive alerts and notifications when readings stray from norms or when analysis indicates that water quality has changed.
