JustFab (Los Angeles-based subscription fashion commerce site), has raised $40
million in series C funding led by Shining Capital with participation from existing investors Matrix Partners, Rho Ventures, TCV, and Intelligent Beauty. Since its launch in 2010, JustFab has raised $149 million, and
Connectikpeople may recall that, JustFab will use the capital to further
international expansion, specifically in Asia and Western Europe.
Academia.edu (a San Francisco-based academic social network, launched in 2008) , has
raised $11 million in series B funding from Khosla Ventures with participation from previous investors Spark Capital and True Ventures. Connectikpeople
may recall that, Academia.edu provides academics with a platform to share and
review research papers, with the goal to change the way scientific research is
distributed and validated. Academia.edu accommodates about 4.3 million users
and has raised over $17 million in funding.
DoubleDutch (a San Francisco-based mobile events application provider, launched in 2011),
has raised a series C round of $10 million led by Bessemer Venture Partners with
participation from previous investors Floodgate Fund, Bullpen Capital, and others.
Connectikpeople may recall that, DoubleDutch is reporting 40 percent
quarter-over-quarter growth and about 500,000 event participants have used its
apps in over 1,000 events to date. The company has raised over $17 million in
funding.
Prosper (a San Francisco-based
peer-to-peer lending platform, launched in 2006), has raised $25 million in a
funding round led by existing investor Sequoia with
participation from BlackRock.
For those who unfamiliar, Prosper allows individuals to invest in each
other in a financially and socially rewarding manner, similar has facilitated a
total of $630 million in personal loans so far. Until now, Prosper has raised a $120
million in total funding
Urban Compass (a New York-based home rental platform, launched in 2012), has
raised $20 million in series A funding from existing investors Founders Fund, Thrive Capital, and .406 Ventures, new
investors include: Marc Benioff and Advance Publications. With Urban Compass, users search for apartments, schedule viewings, tour neighborhoods, and
set up rental payments, ultimately paying a percentage in fees to Urban
Compass. Until now, the company has raised a total of $28 million in funding.
BioDigital (a New York-based human body imaging startup, launched in 2012), has
raised $4 million in series A funding led by FirstMark Capital with participation from NYU's Venture Fund and various angel investors.
