Enphase has partnered with Beacon Power Services to provide a clean and reliable energy alternative in Abuja, Nigeria.
Due to the lack of the good quality of infrastructures, anticipative
politics, and efficient technologies, in a vast city like Abuja, Nigeria, the
access to a pure water and electricity remains a huge problem.
The habitants and authorities are aware of that, and progressively try to
tackle the issue by combining a set of approaches. Today, Connectikpeople has
received a note wherein Enphase has partnered with BeaconPower Services to provide a clean and
reliable
energy alternative in Abuja, Nigeria through piloting an innovative
solar energy microgrid system. Belonging to Clinton Global Initiative
commitment to help address energy challenges in Nigeria and reduce their
dependency on polluting diesel generators, the microgrid systems use of
microinverter technology, designed and provided by Enphase, will allow local
non-specialist electricians and laborers to install and maintain all aspects of
the system.
Under the terms of agreement, Beacon Power Services will manage the local training
and installation of the system, as well as provide ongoing support for the
project.
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration report on Nigeria in October 2012, Nigeria experienced power outages on average
of 46 days per year between 2007 and 2008, with many outages lasting six hours
at a time.
Connectikpeople may recall that, the Enphase pilot commitment aims to
provide clean, reliable energy to Sundry
Foods, located in Abuja, Nigeria. This demonstration
project is an effort to prove the scalability of a solar microgrid system in a
country where traditional forms of electricity are unreliable and harmful to
the environment.
