Tech Fundings: Nginx, MapBox and Refinery29, have raised $40 million: stakes and opportunities.
Globally, these fundings will be
implemented for expansion; bolster the teams and services.
Nginx ( founded in
2011, a San Francisco-based Internet infrastructure software startup), has raised a $10 million Series B round led by
NEA with participation from e.ventures, Runa Capital, MSD Capital, and Aaron Levie. Nginx will use the funds to expand its core engineering team in Moscow
and increase
customer support efforts. Recently Nginx launched Nginx Plus
service, which offers app health checks, monitoring, load balancing, and more.
MapBox (launched in 2011, a Washington,
D.C.-based map platform), has raised $10
million in Series A funding from Foundry Group to build out engineering teams and aid in forming partnerships with other
data providers. For those who unfamiliar, Connectikpeople may recall that, MapBox
provides tools to create and add interactive and personalized maps to web and
mobile sites.
Refinery29 (a New York-based
women's lifestyle website), has raised
$20 million in Series C funding led by Stripes Group to build out editorial and branded content and begin a mobile app
redesign. The company has raised about $30 million in funding to date, with
previous investors including Floodgate, Lead Edge Capital, First Round Capital, Lerer Ventures, and Hearst.
