We talk about Data Protection with New Adaptive Backup and Recovery Technologies.
Billed as the industry's first adaptive, dynamic and self-aware backup and recovery software solution, the new solution aims to upend the traditional backup and recovery model by delivering an approach that dramatically improves business resiliency, continuity and uptime.
Connectikpeople observed that, HP Data Protector 8.1 leverages real-time operational analytics and can define business requirements to intelligently monitor, adapt and optimize how an organization manages its storage infrastructure, resources and data
policies.
As part of this new release Connectikpeople has also captured four essentials components:
  • Prioritization: enables organizations to set backup strategy and policies based on data and application priority and criticality.
  • Prediction: leverages operational analytics to proactively set backup resource utilization.
  • Recommendation: provides actionable suggestions to the IT manager to reduce potential conflicts and ensure SLA objectives.
  • Automation: enables automated backup and recovery provisioning adjustments based on operational analytics from a self-learning system.
Regarding enhancements designed to provide intelligence, scalability and interoperability with key enterprise platforms, we have:
  • SAP HANA integration: provides comprehensive backup and recovery to SAP HANA in-memory databases, recreates logs while the database is online, and restores data and performs database recovery to a state at the specific point in time or the most recent restorable state.
  • Disaster recovery enhancements: include new object selection methods, restore options and wizard pages streamline and automate disaster recovery process.
  • Integration with HP StoreOnce and HP 3PAR StoreServ: includes improved HP StoreOnce compression delivering superior efficiency, encryption and instant recovery support.
  • Priority-based scheduler: enables enterprises to back up mission-critical application data based on an organization's business requirements.
  • Extensive platform integration: includes new integration with Microsoft® Active Directory and VMware vCenter 5.5 for Single Item Recovery, and certification of both VMware vSphere 5.5 and vCloud Director 5.5. HP
HP Data Protector 8.1 is expected to be available in January 2014.
