Startups fundings: The Hunt, Coursera, TapCommerce, and Spotify can henceforth fuel global expansion and expand engineering and product.
We always recall
that, fundraising is often needed to scale the company and generate exponential
growth. This rubric also aims to help organizations, governments and techpreneurs,
to knock the right door when they are looking for funds.
In this dynamic,
The Hunt (Founded in early 2013, San
Francisco-based community-driven shopping app), has raised a $5.5 million
Series A round led by Javelin
Venture Partners
with participation from a handful of angels including Ashton Kutcher, Guy Oseary, and Tyra Banks. For those who unfamiliar, Connectikpeople recalls
that, The Hunt helps consumers find and purchase items inspired by photos on
social networks such as Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, and Tumblr. The Hunt will use the funding to expand
engineering
and product design teams.
Coursera (founded in 2012, Mountain
View-based online education startup), has captured $20 million to its
previously $43 million Series B round, led by three unnamed university partners
and additional funding from GSV Capital and Learn Capital. Coursera aims to provide an Ivy League-caliber
education online for free. Coursera has raised $85 million in funding to date.
TapCommerce ( Founded in 2012, New York-based mobile retargeting platform), has
raised $10.5 million in a Series A round led by Bain Capital Ventures and RRE Ventures with participation from previous investors Metamorphic Ventures, Eniac Ventures, and Nextview Ventures. For those who unfamiliar, TapCommerce uses retargeting to deliver
customers, revenue, and return on investment across mobile platforms, and its
customers include Fab, eBay, and JackThreads.
Spotify (founded in 2006, International music streaming service), has raised
another $250 million in a Series F round entirely backed by Technology Crossover Ventures. Now valued at over $4 billion, Spotify will use the new funds to nurture global
expansion and launch in a number of new countries including Japan. Spotify has
raised $538 million in funding to date.
