LibreOffice 4.2.0 Final brings Interoperability with Microsoft OOXML and more.



If unfamiliar, right away, Connectikpeople.co recalls that, LibreOffice is community-driven and developed software, powered by a not-for-profit organization, The Document Foundation. A robust alternative to Windows Office.   
This 4.2.0 release contains many exciting new features, and is targeted for early adopters and private power users.
Connectipeople.co has captured:
 Interoperability with Microsoft OOXML, A new import filter for Abiword documents has been added. (Particularly for DOCX, as well as legacy RTF, has improved
considerably).
A new engine for Calc : massive parallel calculations of formula cells using GPU via OpenCL are now possible.
Windows specific improvements for business users, particularly a simplified custom install dialog, and the ability to centrally manage and lock-down the configuration with Group Policy Objects via Active Directory.
Better integration with Windows 7 and 8, with thumbnails of open documents now grouped by application and a list of recent documents, both showing on the task bar.
The new Expert Configuration window, has been added to the Options tab.
Finally a new  Start screen brings a cleaner layout that makes better use of the available space.
