Migrate Mobile operators to the Cloud, leveraging Cloud value for mobile broadband: Huawei advances.

The trend is unstoppable, when it comes to talk about Virtualization, Cloud and mobile broadband for everyone.
As, a unique objective reference for Organizations and Professionals, when it comes to tools and solutions to draw value-added in their modern activities, Connectikpeople.co is scrutinizing in real-time what happens at Huawei.

Our interest for the Mobile World Congress 2014, leads us to focus on its new flagship products like CloudEdge solutions.
First, Connectikpeople.co has been excited to observe conjoint demonstrations (Huawei and China Mobile) of a virtualized Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) and virtual IMS using MANO (Management and Orchestration).

Before we continue, let us recall that, a virtualized Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) and virtual IMS solutions are a part of Huawei’s CloudEdge solution designed with the goal to help migrate operators to the Cloud as smoothly as possible and leverage Cloud
value for mobile broadband.
Connectikpeople.co praises these efforts by underlining that; the majority of end-to-end infrastructure complexity resides at the network edge, due to operator’s need to support multiple legacy technologies.
Huawei highlighed that, ‘’the service experiences differentiation that allows operators to compete and distinguish product offerings from each other is largely located at the edge. For this reason operator budgets are firmly focused on reducing TCO by transforming existing network edge infrastructure to Cloud. Achieving this end, through the optimization, simplification and automization of the network edge is what Huawei calls its CloudEdge solution’’.
If unfamiliar, Connectikpeople.co recalls that, CloudEdge has four parts:
  • Mobile: Focused on continued LTE build outs, virtual EPC and simplification of Gi-LAN by introducing service chaining
  • Service: The introduction of MANO in NFV related to operation management, automation and network services orchestration. MANO avoids siloed point deployment of NFV, including integration and migration with existing backend OSS/BSS.
  • IP: Huawei’s SDN controller for IP RAN backhaul is designed to ease OPEX complexity through automation and simplified management of complex IP backhaul.
  • Home: Virtualized set-up box and virtual EPC to address the home network environment.
Congrats! Huawei, Connectikpeople.co encourages your commitment to support operator migration to Cloud. We also praise your PoC (proof of concept) CloudEdge projects, pending the first commercial product.
