The Blackphone is a smartphone designed to put privacy and security front and center.
Deeply preoccupied by your privacy (contacts, text, calls…) the Blackphone
possibly can help you. Announced in January 2014, and pending the shipments in June
2014, the Blackphone is henceforth available for pre-order for about $629.
For your privacy, the Blackphone is running an Android-based operating
system called PrivatOS. It brings a firewall, remote wipe capabilities, and
custom apps developed by the Silent Circle, including Silent Phone, Silent Text
and Silent Contacts.
Connectikpeople.co observes that, those apps can encrypt your
communications and route voice calls, meaning that, your calls are harder to
track. But the presence of the
GPS means that NSA can track you.
Regarding the specs, Connectikpeople.co has captured a 4.7-inch IPS HD
Display, 2GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, LTE and HSPA+
connectivity, WiFi 802.11 n, and Bluetooth 4.0., and GPS. If not interested by
the hardware, Silent Circle (responsible for the PrivatOS Software), offers these
apps for both Android and iOS. (About $10/month or $100/year).
If unfamiliar, Connectikpeople.co recalls that, the Blackphone is a joint
venture between Geeksphone and Silent Circle. Geeksphone is responsible for the
hardware, while Silent Circle is responsbile for the PrivatOS Software.
