FunPlus (Founded in
2010, Chinese gaming company), has raised $74 million in new funding from Orchid Asia Group, GSR Ventures, and Steamboat Ventures. In its portfolio of products, Connectikpeople.co has captured: Family
Farm, Royal Story, and Fantasy Slots, three free-to-play Facebook games
supported by players who buy in-game virtual currency. FunPlus has raised over $87 million to date and will use the new
round to fund hiring and global growth.
AltSchool (San Francisco-based primary
education startup), has raised $33 million in a Series A round led by Founders Fund and Andreessen Horowitz with participation from First Round Capital, Harrison Metal, John Doerr, Learn Capital, and Omidyar Network. This startup utilizes technology to personalize education, providing each
student with an iPad and equipping classrooms with video and audio recording systems.
AltSchool will use the new funds to build out technology infrastructure and
open at least three additional micro-schools in San Francisco.
