National ID and E-Passport technologies in Somalia: actors and stakes.

Today, Active Digital walks us through Somalia, the Federal Republic who took another step, following longstanding politic instabilities. Henceforth the government is working to establish law and order. In this dynamic two new citizen ID programs have been launched: a new national ID card and e-passport.

Active Digital observes that the ID documents(national ID card and e-passport) and their supporting solutions were designed and implemented by an association of Oman’s Al Madina Group, ( security printer and systems integrator); Ebtikart Smart System, (a solution provider); and HID Global.

citizens’ identities, while the e-passport facilitates international travel across borders.
