When it comes to
Coding lessons for beginners
1.     Scratch is a free programming language targeting young people (but good for adults as well!) where you can create your own interactive stories, games and animations.
2.     Codecademy: Learn to code interactively, for free.
3.     Code School: Code School teaches web technologies with video lessons, coding challenges, and screencasts.
4.     Code.org tutorials: Simple tutorials for beginners that can be completed in an hour or less.

Regarding the coding activities in Europe and the world, CoderDojo and Rails Girls, are global volunteer-led community of free programming clubs for young people and women respectively.
