Xamarin,( Founded in 2011 in San Francisco, a cross-platform development startup),
has raised $54 million in a Series C round led by Insight Venture Partners with participation from all previous investors including Floodgate, Charles River Ventures, Ignition Partners, and Lead Edge. If unfamiliar, Xamarin provides mobile software
development tools to help developers build and test cross-platform native
applications. Xamarin has raised $82
million to date and will use the new cash to fund its expansion in Europe.
Thumbtack (Founded in 2008, a local services marketplace based in San Francisco), has
raised $100 million in a new funding round led by Google Capital with participation from existing investors Tiger Global Management, Sequoia Capital, and Javelin Venture Partners. This startup helps people find professionals for a wide variety of services
from tutoring to home improvement. Thumbtack
plans to use the latest cash to launch nationwide marketing campaigns and grow
its engineering team.
