Mobility initiatives within organizations: realities, stakes, and trends.
It is not yet a great momentum; organizations, enterprises and public
sectors are still looking for the best balance between employee’s goodwill, operational
costs and how to leverage mobile devices effectively at workplace. This means
inter alia understand the value proposition of mobility for their businesses.
This challenge is accentuated by the general lack of understanding on
differentiation between MDM and MEM.
However, according to IDC’s latest Enterprise
Mobility studies, countries in the
Asia/Pacific regions have begun to utilize mobility in different fashions depending
on their needs. Over 70% of all survey respondents stated that there were some
kind of mobility initiatives in their organizations.
Connectikpeople.co recalls that, Mobile Device Management
(MDM) is a segmented solution, while Mobile Enterprise Management (MEM) is a comprehensive
solution that secures the device, application and data.
When it comes to IDC’s latest Enterprise Mobility
studies, Connectikpeople.co can
observe that, countries like Singapore or Australia put more focus on ensuring
security and management of the enterprise mobility platform; while emerging
countries like Indonesia and Thailand tend to focus on developing applications
to drive business on the mobile platform.
This difference is justified inter alia by the fact that, companies in
developed countries have more and robust infrastructures and data they need to
protect and optimize; but beyond their
leapfrogging capabilities, companies in developing countries always struggle, to
appropriate and develop powerful infrastructures and data they need for their
growth.
IDC’s latest Enterprise Mobility
studies, finds across the region (Asia/Pacific,
excluding Japan), that, if about 80% of respondents who has mobility
initiatives in their organizations has either implemented or are testing mobile
security and management solutions, more organizations are still leaning towards
device-only management solutions (MDM) rather than the more comprehensive
mobile enterprise management (MEM) solutions that secures the device, application
and data.
