Funding in digital landscape this week: February 9 to February 14/2014.



Beyond the size of amount, this week Connectikpeople.co is particularly seduced by the resurgence and comeback of the seed funding. Nearly $8 million have been generated.
Alibaba has been more aggressive in Private Equity, by investing nearly $590M in Meizu, an 11-year-old Chinese phone-maker.

Overall, Connectikpeople.co has captured nearly $1.46 Billion from the investors and Bessemer Venture Partners has improved its portfolio. These investors have been more active in Series A and B.

Shopline (raised $1.2M / Seed), allows non-tech-savvy merchants in Asia to launch beautiful, self-branded, web and mobile online shops in minutes. Shopline is immediately focused on Hong Kong and Taiwan and plans to expand its presence into Southeast Asia this year.

 

Alice (raised $3.0M / Seed) is a platform that allows hoteliers to provide mobile services to their guests. Founded in 2012, Alice recently launched its app in New York and will put the funds toward expanding to Berlin in March and growth in Asia.

 

Meizu (raised $590M / Private Equity) is an 11-year-old Chinese phone-maker that sold 1.5 million Android-based smartphones in January. The strategic alliance with Alibaba will provide Meizu with resources and support as it develops its smartphone ecosystem.

 

Bento (raised $2.5M / Seed) provides financial tech solutions for small businesses. Founded in 2013, Bento will put the cash toward corporate infrastructure and product development and plans to launch its first product in early March.

 

PriceMatch (raised 8.0M EUR / Series A) is a personalized revenue management company focused on hotels. Founded in 2012 and based in Paris, PriceMatch already has 700 hotels across more than 30 countries on its platform.

 

CloudVelox (raised $15M / Series C), offers automated cloud migration and disaster recovery software for deploying multi-tier apps and services to the cloud. Founded in 2010, CloudVelox has raised $33 million to date and will put the new funding toward sales and marketing and further product development.

 

Bottlenose (raised $13M / Series B) is a data analytics startup that focuses on tracking, filtering and analyzing stream data for enterprises. Founded in 2010, Bottlenose has raised $17 million to date and will use the Series B to grow the business, expanding both its product line and team.

 

Wandera ( raised $15M / Series B),  delivers a secure mobile gateway for enterprises to protect mobile data from external threats. Founded in 2012, Wandera processes more than 350 million content requests daily for customers in 60 countries and has raised $25 million to date.

 

Team8 (raised $18M / Series A), is a cyber-security incubator based in Israel with a mission to initiate and build long-term, innovative cyber-security companies. Launched last year by two Israeli army commanders, Team8 has already spun out one startup.


Reserve (raised $15M / Series A), is a restaurant reservation service currently available in New York, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco, with over 110 restaurants on its platform. Launched on iOS last fall and Android last week, Reserve has raised $17 million to date and will put the new cash toward continued expansion.

 

Fancy (raised $20M / Series D), is a social shopping platform based in New York. Fancy has raised $125 million since 2009 and will most likely be ramping up activity in Latin America and Japan with the new strategic partnerships.


Sigfox (raised $115M / Series D) is a French startup that owns and operates a low-energy, low-cost cellular network dedicated only to connected objects. Founded in 2009, Sigfox has raised nearly $150 million to date and will use the latest funding to build out its network across Europe, the U.S. and Asia.

 

Practo (raised $30M / Series B) is an Indian startup that provides a search portal matching doctors with patients. With 120,000 doctors on its platform and over a million visitors per month, Practo will use the funding to expand its services in India and other emerging markets.

 

Quixey (Raised $60M / Series D), is an app search engine founded in 2009 and based in Mountain View. Quixey has raised $135 million to date and is valued at $600 million.


Jet (raised $140M / Series B) is a trendy e-commerce site that is developing radical price innovation technology for e-commerce. Founded in 2014 and based in New Jersey, Jet has raised $220 million to date and is now valued at $600 million.
