Internet-based startups and companies funded this week around the world.



Their ambitions remain high in terms of profits, market shares, expansion and innovation.
With nearly $647 million invested, the investors have been more or less generous targeting the following segments: playlists and sharing music; cloud-based customer service tools; data to humanize health care; transportation startup; Software Company; online marketplace; UAV technology; music apps and games; online appointment; on-demand shipping service; on-demand mobile app; genetics services and more.

$30M / Series B for Music Messenger! an app for creating playlists and sharing music. Founded in 2014, Music Messenger is based in Israel and valued at $100 million.
Investors include: Tiesto, will.i.am, Gee Roberson and others.

 

$50M / Series E for Freshdesk that provides cloud-based customer service tools. Founded in 2010, Freshdesk currently serves over 40,000 enterprise customers and has raised $95 million to date.

Investors include: Accel Partners, Tiger Global Management and Google Capital.

$145M / Series B for Oscar! a health insurance company that employs technology, design, and data to humanize health care. Founded in 2013 in New York, Oscar will use the new funding to explore expanding to California and adding new members to the 40k it currently serves.

Investors include: Goldman Sachs, Wellington Management, Peter Thiel and others.

 

$3.0M / Seed for Chariot! a San Francisco-based transportation startup that operates 5 transit routes across the city with a renovated fleet of charter vans. A 2014 Y Combinator grad, Chariot will put the new funding toward expanding its network.

Investors include: Y Combinator, SoftTech VC, China Rock Capital and others.

 

$32M / Series E for Chef! a software company that allows users to automate how they build, deploy, and manage their systems infrastructure. Founded in 2008, Chef is headquartered in Seattle and has raised $97 million to date.

Investors include: Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ) , Battery Ventures , Scale Venture Partners and others.

 

$150M / Series E for Funding Circle! an online marketplace that allows individuals to lend money directly to small and medium-sized businesses. Based in the UK, Funding Circle's platform has grown to serve over 8,000 businesses and 38,000 small business lenders since it was founded in 2009.

Investors include:  Temasek Holdings, DST Global, Sands Capital Ventures and others.

 

$10M / Series A for Operator! an app that uses a network of human 'operators' to fulfill customer requests. After two years in stealth, Operator is currently in private beta and hasn't announced a public launch date.

 

 

$14M / Series C for 3D Robotics! an open-source UAV technology company manufacturing electronics and aerial vehicles. The $14M is an extension of the company's $50M Series C round announced in February. 3D has now raised a total of $99M to date.

Investors include: Atlantic Bridge, WestSummit Capital and SanDisk Ventures.

 

$26M / Series F for Smule! a developer of music apps and games such as Magic Piano and AutoRap. Founded in 2008, Smule will use the new funding to expand to new platforms, create new functions and invest in R&D.

Investors include: Bessemer Venture Partners, Shasta Ventures and Adams Street Partners.

$9.2M / Series B for MyTime ! An online appointment booking website that allows users to find and book appointments for local businesses. Founded in 2009, MyTime has raised $12.3 million to date and is now pushing deeper into back-office software.

Investors include: Khosla Ventures, Upfront Ventures, Accelerator Ventures and others.

 

$12M / Series B for Gravie that helps consumers choose and buy insurance, pay for it, and manage all health care expenses. Founded in 2013, Gravie is available nationwide and will put the new funding toward scaling the business and adding sales staff.

Investors include: FirstMark Capital, FirstMark Capital, Split Rock Partners and others.


$15M / Series A for Color Genomics that provides accessible, population-scale genetics services. The funding will go toward bringing down the cost of The Color Test, a clinical-grade, comprehensive genetic sequencing test that covers 19 major genes associated with breast and ovarian cancer.

Investors include: Khosla Ventures , Formation 8 and Mariam Naficy.

$25M / Series C for Poshmark! a fashion marketplace app that allows women to buy and sell secondhand items, including clothing, shoes and other accessories. Founded in 2011, Poshmark has raised $40.5 million to date.

Investors include: Menlo Ventures, Mayfield Fund and SoftTech VC.

$30M / Series B for ZIRX that provides an on-demand mobile app that enables users to request valets to pick up and drop off their cars, for a daily fee or monthly subscription. Launched last year in San Francisco, ZIRX has raised $36 million to date and will use the funding to expand to new cities.

Investors include: Bessemer Venture Partners, Norwest Venture Partners - NVP and Trinity Ventures.

$50M / Series B for Shyp! an on-demand shipping service that provides couriers to pick up and deliver packages. Founded in 2013, Shyp has raised $62 million to date and is expanding to Los Angeles today.

Investors include: Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, SherpaVentures, Homebrew and others.
