RancherOS has joined the momentum by building what one call ‘’a minimalist Linux distribution for running Docker containers’’. 

Here, Docker is ran directly on top of the Linux Kernel, and all user-space Linux services be distributed as Docker containers. 

RancherOS is designed to leverage the Docker API and host sophisticated management agents. The goal is to manage them at large scale in production by container management platforms like Rancher.
