Mirantis + Intel and Google to package OpenStack into Docker containers to be managed by Kubernetes.
At the center of stakes, we have: leverage
Kubernetes in Fuel to turn OpenStack into a true microservice application, bridging
the gap between legacy infrastructure software and the next generation of
application development.
We also have: a new delivery model that allows faster
consumption of updates, help to accelerate the deployment of tens of thousands
of new clouds, and Kubernetes container
orchestration to automate OpenStack operations at scale.
In effect, based on the reality that, Docker emerges as the standard
container image format and Kubernetes as the standard for container orchestration, Mirantis in
collaboration with Google and Intel is evolving
the architecture of the purpose-built lifecycle management tool for OpenStack,
Fuel, and related OpenStack projects, to
enable the use of Kubernetes as orchestration engine; package OpenStack into Docker
containers to be managed by Kubernetes.
