Automotive gesture recognition systems in our ever-connected era

For the stakes related to safety, comfort and convenience to drivers, Sensor-based systems such as automotive gesture recognition systems have made a deep entry into the automotive industry in an effort to offer comfort and convenience to drivers in controlling the in-vehicle system functions. 

For those who are unfamiliar, this may be to navigate among the vehicle's infotainment options, adjust the overhead lighting or the ambient temperature, open and close the doors and windows, and answer or reject phone calls among others. 

The gestures are processed and recognized using a gesture recognition algorithm by these sensors-based systems to control the on-board systems instead of using physical buttons or touch pads/screens and haptics.
